In June of 2019, I had the opportunity to attend a leadership programme, also known as LEAP camp. The 3 day camp that took place in Kota Tinggi aimed to enhance our leadership skills towards ourselves, our team and our community. 

Though the camp challenged us both physically and mentally, it was necessary for the growth that was intended for us. Throughout the camp, the 7 habits of effective leadership were emphasised, some of which I still firmly believe in.

 

The lesson of 'Begin With The End In Mind' taught me to begin every challenge I encounter with a set goal in mind. This has largely shaped me as a leader as it reminds me not only to be realistic with the goals I set for myself, but to start out every opportunity I am given with a positive and determined mindset. To me, being able to complete any event or opportunity to the best of your ability is just as important as starting it off strongly. 

 

Ultimately, the leadership camp strengthened my skills as a leader and allowed me to gain confidence towards leading a team. I firmly believe that the values I have learnt from LEAP camp would serve me in future leadership opportunities.
